Student Gallery - Photo & Paint Project
Photo and Paint Project (not PPE, but PPP! )
As the heading implies, this brings together two hobbies, painting and photography. This project will show you how two disciplines can work together and help you with your artwork.
Students are encouraged to post their photographs of the great outdoors: trees and foliage, effective skies, flowers and animals, in fact anything to do with nature straight on to the Student Gallery. Then, from the gallery of photographs you can choose a photo that you might like to paint from.
My advice when working from a photograph is not to follow it rigidly, make it your own. Your own interpretation should be the aim, this allows for creativity and freedom in the work. You can get involved with this project whatever your ability and regardless of what art materials you have. In fact, you can get involved if you only have a pen or pencil and some paper to hand as drawings are more than welcome.
Once you have completed your artwork, if you wish, you can post it straight on to the Student Gallery. Then on Wednesdays in June, you may like to join us for an online meeting, hosted by myself - when we will have the opportunity to catch up and share our thoughts and ideas. You can ask questions on techniques, materials and where to source them etc. You may request for a critique of your artwork, where I will be more than happy to help.
At a later date, once the classes resume, you might like to get involved in displaying your artwork in our annual exhibition. So which project will you choose? ‘Cardathon for Children in Need’, or the ‘Photo and Paint Project’. The choice is yours, you might like to get involved in both!
Keep safe and carry on painting
